Wooden toys are Yunhe’s traditional industry and a key export-earning product. The county hosts over 600 wooden toy enterprises and processing units—more than 200 with an annual output value exceeding RMB 1 million, 6 over RMB 10 million, and 1 over RMB 50 million. There are 2 designated tourist commodity manufacturers at the provincial and municipal levels. The total annual production capacity tops RMB 1.5 billion, employing over 20,000 people, including 8,000+ permanent staff.

As a major category in the toy sector, wooden toys double as fine art pieces for play and display. They encompass 10 major categories and over 3,000 varieties, including adult, children’s, educational, and practical types. Over 90% of Yunhe’s wooden toys are exported to more than 30 countries and regions across Europe, America, and Southeast Asia, accounting for over 70% of China’s total exports of similar products and leading the nation in export volume.

In 1994, Yunhe was named “Hometown of Chinese Wooden Toys” in the inaugural China Specialty Township selection by the Ministry of Agriculture and *China Specialty News*. Fei Xiaotong, former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress and a renowned social activist, inscribed “China Wooden Toy City” for Yunhe. In September 2003, at the 2nd China International Gift Fair & National Gift and Related Products Special Zone Press Conference in Guangzhou, the China National Light Industry Council officially awarded Yunhe the title of “China Wooden Toy City.”
